3501 San Ysidro Way Drainage Project

Background

The project will repair the deteriorated storm drain pipe connecting the two inlets on the east side of Watt Avenue at the San Ysidro Way intersection. The project came about after the storm drain pipe was exposed during the installation of the new water pipe in San Ysidro Way and the extensive deterioration was revealed. We are fast-tracking the project to ensure the work is completed before the planned street overlay work on Watt Avenue later this summer.

Project Description

The project will remove & replace the deteriorated pipe connecting the two inlets.  The work will occur within the northbound bike lane on Watt Avenue. We estimate construction will take two weeks with work hours of 8am-3:30pm. The contractor will stage equipment on San Ysidro Way during the day.  Residents should expect construction noise and traffic impacts during the project.

Quality Control

County Construction Management and Inspection Division will manage the field work and inspections for the project.  David Phillips will be the construction inspector. He will resolve most field issues and ensure the work meets the design plans and specifications. Eyad Almasri will be the Resident Engineer overseeing construction and handling major field issues.
