I Street and 32nd St Storm Drain Improvement Project

Background

The I Street/32nd Street Storm Drain Improvement Project (Project) is located in the North Highlands area east of the McLellan Airfield in the Robla Creek watershed.  The Project area is bound by low-density residential parcels east of 32nd Street, industrial land use west of 32nd Street and south of I Street, and McClellan airfield to the west.  The shed area flows to Robla Creek from south to north via drainage ditches and overland sheet flow, out falling to Robla Creek. The existing public drainage system for this area flows through a private industrial property within drainage easements.

Project Description

The Project will route the drainage flows away from the existing system to a new system located within County road right-of-way.  The Project consists of installing a new drainage pipe system in I Street and 32nd Street that will outfall to Robla Creek via the existing concrete bridge structure on 32nd Street.  In addition to re-routing the public storm drain flows from the private industrial property to the public-right-of-way, the Project will improve existing localized flooding and provide a public drainage system that can be tied into by future development.
