I Street / 32nd St Storm Drain Improvement Project

Background

The I Street/32nd Street Storm Drain Improvement Project (Project) is located in the North Highlands area in the Robla Creek watershed.  The Project area is bound by low-density residential parcels east of 32nd Street, industrial land use west of 32nd Street and south of I Street, and McClellan airfield to the west.  The watershed area flows to Robla Creek from south to north via drainage ditches and overland sheet flow. The existing public drainage system for this area flows through a private industrial property within drainage easements.

Project Description

The Project will route drainage flows away from the existing system to a new drainage pipe system located within the County road right-of-way of I Street and 32nd Street. The new system will connect to Robla Creek via the existing concrete bridge structure on 32nd Street. Improvements will upgrade and add capacity to the existing system, improve existing localized flooding, re-route the public drainage system from private properties to public road right-of-way, bring the system up to current drainage standards, and provide a public drainage system that can be used by future development. See the project map on the back of the newsletter for project location and planned improvements.
